Southwest Strength In-house Competition

Southwest Strength held their first in-house competition Saturday, June 3. It was a perfect day for a fitness

competition with the door being able to be open for a nice breeze. Southwest Strength Owner and Coach,

Nathan Corrigal said, “the competition exceeded mine and Sara’s (Southwest Strength, Owner, and Coach)

expectations. The sole purpose was to get everyone in the building together, have an amazing atmosphere and

have everyone cheer each other on. There were numerous times Sara and I would look around in awe of how

proud we were of our community. People were doing things they didn’t think they could do and having the

best time!!”

With such success in the first year, it will now be turned into an annual event for Southwest Strength and their

clients. Corrigal said, “I am already planning on making it better… Clients loved it; they are already talking

about next year.” Corrigal continued, “There was a lot of our client’s nervous for the first event. It was outside

their comfort zone, but once they got the first event out of the way, you could tell a lot of people settled in!”

On the podium on the ladies side; first place – Dream Team; Rienna Skelton and Caitlin Tingey Team, second

place – Team Not a Dottir; Mandy Chartrand and Danielle Davies, and third place was a tie between – Team

Jilly Balls; Angie Ball and Jillian Crowe, and Team Har(d) Cor(e); Krista Corrigal and Linda Harmon.

On the podium on the guy's side; first place – Team Ramrod; Kyle Cameron and Jack Kirkup, second place –

Team Chunk; Andrew Chartrand and Cory Aitken) and third place – Team Pecs and Cardio; Nicho Cercado &

Chris Louttit.

Corrigal explained the best part of the day was the entire day, “I personally didn’t want it to end, from having

our two youngest clients - Courtney Skelton and Skyla Louttit try so hard against people over twice their age

was very special, but also, seeing someone like Marcie Greenley who a year ago would have never been able

to do the things she did Saturday made me so proud. In summary, the best part of the day was just having

everyone there together! We really do have that family atmosphere at our facility!”
