Pipestone’s, John Patmore is starting to feel the excitement of representing Manitoba as part of the baseball team for the 2017 Canada Summer Games. The Summer Games are held in Winnipeg this year and start July 28 – August 13.
Representing Manitoba is not a new feeling for Patmore, as he has played on the 15U team, 16U Western Canada Summer Games, and 17U at the Canada Cup in Fort McMurray.
“It’s always an honour to represent your province. In this case, with the games being held in Manitoba, there is an added pressure and excitement level in the mix.” Patmore said, “It’s going to be unbelievable to represent Manitoba at home.”
Even though Patmore’s sights are currently set on focusing on the 2017 Canada Sumer Games that is just one of the many teams he played on this year. Patmore played Reston High School, Midget, Reston Senior (South West Baseball League), Oil Dome AAA Midget and Brandon Marlins (Manitoba Junior Baseball League.)
Patmore explains that the National level is different, “ You always notice the pitches are a little faster, the plays are a little cleaner and the hits are a little harder at the National level. There is always a bit of an adjustment period, but it’s great to play against.”
In the fall Patmore is going to attend the University of Winnipeg and study Education.
