Motto: “There is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down, and lifting people up.”

Roll Call – Tell of a memory of your school days. Six members were present, some interesting memories were shared.

Thought for the Day - Jean Dickson

“Always remember to fall asleep with a dream, and wake up with a purpose.”

The education convenors five-minute reports were very interesting, and we always learn something new, on a variety of topics. Always enjoy and look forward to these presentations.

The business portion of the meeting was dealt with in the usual manner. Correspondence included a thank you from Y.W.C.A Women’s Shelter for our donations of articles.

The Books of Remembrance project is proceeding very well. Only one book to come in that is to be reviewed. Further plans on this project will be forthcoming.

The proposed tour of Lauder Hutterite Colony never happened.

Discussion took place on Reston Fun Fair on September 27. We will again raffle a $50 bill, and plan to have miscellaneous items for sale as well.

Discussion took place requestions brought forth by the Regional Pres, to be discussed at the Regional Board meeting on September 25.

It was decided after discussion and a motion, to donate to Agi in the Classroom.

Jean Dickson’s birthday auction, was won by Teresa O’Neill. Today was Jean’s birthday.

Helen McConnell was program convenor for this meeting. She handed out sheets with three recipes to each member: 1. Very Veggie Melts, 2. Salmon Ball Casserole, and 3. Raspberry Fridge dessert. She demonstrated preparations of each one, had all ingredients for each one, but time didn’t allow for us to same each of them. We tasted the very veggie melts, with pieces of her home made melba toast. A most entertaining and interesting demo.

Lunch was supplied and served by Jean Dickson - delicious biscuits and homemade strawberry jam, ending a most enjoyable and educational afternoon.

Our next meeting will be held in the community centre on October 2 at 1:30 p.m.
