Successful Quiz Night

It’s been a long, cold winter, so when the temperatures outside rose above zero on Saturday, March 23, 2019, people from all directions headed to Tilston for the Quiz Night in the Tilston Hall. All around it was a roaring success! A record number of 25 teams of 4 people (a few teams had 5 or 6), participated in the Quiz. The questions were made up by Beth Anderson. Grant Anderson was score keeper and Karen Jones read out the answers. The winning team topped the scoreboard with 88.5 points. This team consisted of Manson and Barbara Moir, Mary Moir and Grant Anderson. They won gift cards to the Come Back Cafe in Pipestone.

Paulette Halls won the 50/50 draw worth $230. Tickets were sold on several raffles, some items being purchased by the Tilston Community Club and others were donated by community people and area businesses. A silent auction was also held on several larger items. The Sunrise Credit Union Melita Branch made a very large donation and several prizes created an exciting bidding war. The Community Club is very grateful to all who sponsored prizes and to those who participated in the silent auction, the raffles and the 50/50 draw.

Midway through the Quiz, auctioneer Austin Taylor of Reston, auctioned off some home-baked pies, cakes, preserves, bread, Easter baskets with chocolates, etc. The crowd was very receptive and the bidding was lively, in true fundraiser fashion.

Silent auction winners were Grant Anderson, Beth Anderson, Connie Jones, Lance Parker, Mike McNish, Greg Roblin, Marcie Greenley, Allison Copithorne, Ken Wray, Tracy Rozander-Jones and Paulette Halls.

The evening concluded with a delicious lunch and lots of visiting!
