It was a hot sunny day for the MNP Appreciation BBQ in Melita on Thursday, July 12. It was held at the Banana Days Grounds, right beside Sunny the Banana. They were serving customers from 11:30 am-1:00 pm, and for $5 you could have a hot dog, drink, chips and cake. While you dined on your lunch, it also served as an informal meet-and-greet, giving everyone a chance to catch up or put a name to a face. A few of the familiar faces dishing out lunch included Senior Managers Murray Gray, Nicole Hooper and Lisa Tutthill. There was also the opportunity to meet Partner Deb Calverley, Regional Marketing Manager Leanne Zamruykut, and many others from the MNP family.
With an estimated 100 people attending, the BBQ was held in appreciation of the Melita community but also Brenda Dell and her many years of service to her clients. She has semi-retired and is now with MNP on a casual basis. Cheryl Rushing, the Administrative Assistant at MNP explained where the money raised would be going to, “Since Banana Days is an event so near and dear to Brenda, we decided that 100% of the proceeds of the BBQ would go to the event. The community sure came through too, raising $566!” Rushing added MNP will match this amount for a total donation to Banana Days of $1132.
Running from August 10-12, Banana Days is a festival held in Melita and celebrating its ninth year. This was the first year MNP has held the BBQ but after seeing such a success, they are hoping to make it an annual event.
