Melita School - Random Acts of Christmas Kindness

Kindness is defined as “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate” (Webster’s dictionary). Throughout December, the Grade 5 students were given the task of selecting 10 RACK activities that they would want to complete within their school and community. Various activities were planned over two weeks.

Two of the most notable were: Carolling at the Melita PCH and various downtown businesses and creating Christmas cards to send to our Canadian military men and women who are serving our country overseas. These courageous men and women will not be able to spend Christmas at home with their families but perhaps by receiving a card and knowing that they are in our thoughts will make their Christmas a little brighter. Grade K, 2-6, 7-10 and 12 students were also included in creating and sending greetings from our school. Thank you to the RCMP members who collected and posted the letters on our behalf.

Mrs. Lee’s Kindergarten class also had their Mitten Tree on display. A Christmas Cheer collection box was also included. Thank you to all the generous donations of toques, mittens, and scarves and any non-perishable food items.

They say that you can tell the true character of a person who does something for someone who can never repay them. We are extremely proud of our Melita School students for their kindness and consideration towards this project. Let the true meaning of Christmas continue on throughout the year.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2019!
