On September 16, we hosted the Community Terry Fox Run. Even though it was a cold day for September, we had members volunteer to sit at stations on the route and 15 members of our community out to participate! A total of $350 was collected for the Terry Fox Foundation.

We continued with our Terry Fox month which included assemblies for the K-4 and the 5-8 students, selling cupcakes and having a hat day to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation. Our goal this year was to raise a total of $2,250. If we reached our goal, Mrs. Benton agreed to be duct taped to the wall. We surpassed our goal with a total of $2,810.90! Thanks to all members of the community and family members who made donations, Delmar’s Rona and Sleepy Creek Farm for donating the duct tape, and to the Social Justice families who donated cupcakes.

For two weeks in October, we collected plastic bags for Bag Up Manitoba. We had a competition between the elementary grades and the middle year grades. It was amazing the piles of bags we had transported to Winnipeg by Gardewine Group Inc. Our bag total for this year was over 10,050 bags! In the past, we have received Frisbees, flower boxes and a bench made from recycled plastic. Thank you to our Student Council who supplied the treat bowls to our winners, the Kindergarten and Grade 6 classes!
