The Melita School Drama classes presented A Night of Two Plays at the Melita Strand Theatre on Tuesday, December 3.
The first play that was presented was Twelve Angry Jurors, about a 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. This intense drama begins after closing arguments have been presented and a 12-person jury is set to begin deliberations where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. It looks like an open and shut case, until one of the jurors begins to sow a seed of reasonable doubt. The story quickly becomes a study of the jurors’ complex personalities as the audience witnesses the various testimonies and the murder re-enacted. The students that were part of this play were Kristin Rink, Jules Gayumba, Lincoln Jordan, Julie Gibson, Phoenix Lust, Derek Vanbeselaere, Avery Kobs, Zoe Elliott, Journey Rommelaere, Emma Ray, Rylee Kobs, Kelly Wheelans, Kiersten Elliott and U’Shaun Campbell.
The second play of the evening was titled Complaint Department and Lemonade. The play was about a group of people who will complain about absolutely anything, from songs stuck in their head, to the price of cheeses, to lemonade and more. Participants in this play included Brian Humer, Darius Ternovetsky, Mike Vanbeselaere, AJ Laureola, Blake Harmon, Rylee Fletcher, Darius Ternovetsky, Emily Jones, Renee Bodin, Liam Vercaigne, Josh Slack, Chris Tilbury and Carter Snyder.
Good job to all students and staff involved in these productions!
