Chamber kick starts the holiday season in Melita

The Melita and District Chamber is gearing up for the holiday season with two big activities, the Christmas Scavenger Hunt and the Annual Santa Claus Parade. The organization is introducing a new seasonal promotion, the Christmas Scavenger Hunt that will run from November 25 to December 17. To join, people can pick up a copy of the Scavenger Hunt forms from participating Chamber member businesses. They can also download and print the forms from the Facebook pages of the Melita Chamber of Commerce or the Town of Melita. Forms are to be filled out by visiting Chamber businesses to gather the answers. Winners get a chance to win Chamber Bucks! Four lucky winners could win the following: Two adults get the chance to win $500 and $250 and two kids (17 years old and under) get the chance to win $150 and $100, respectively.

“In recent years, our annual Christmas cash retail promotion involved shoppers filling out raffle entry forms as they shop. This year, we decided to change it by doing a scavenger hunt. We are hoping this will get more people visiting our Chamber members and increase customer traffic during the season. They can also browse or find out more about the businesses or organizations when they stop by. We also spread the prize winnings to more people. The draw and announcement will be on December 18. This will give the winners a chance to use their Chamber bucks for their holiday shopping, if they wish,” said Darren Stewart, Chamber president.

Another activity the Chamber has planned is the Annual Santa Claus Parade, Saturday, November 30. After the parade, Galaxy Lanes Bowling Alley Association will be having their Tea and Bake Sale at the Anglican Parish Hall. The Melita Strand Theatre will be having a movie-for-a-toonie, Arctic Dogs, at 3:30 p.m.

These events will be a great kick-off to the holiday season for the entire family to enjoy!
