Creating From The Heart has a charity status by Canada Revenue Agency and is on the Melita Donor’s Choice canvass. We are so grateful for all the donations we received this past year!
The main purpose and goal of our group is:
To promote health by providing individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions with extra comfort items to cope with hospitalization and healing;
To relieve poverty by providing basic amenities of life including clothes to individuals and families in need and;
To enhance the mental well-being of aging community members by providing social or recreational activities to relieve social isolation and loneliness.
We meet very Thursday from October 1 to April 30 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the sewing room at the Golden Age Centre. Our supplies come from various people who wish to support our charity projects. This winter we have completed a variety of projects which included: gift bag/pillow cases for Melita Christmas Cheer, fortrel blankets and pillow cases for Samaritan House in Brandon, chemo hats for Cancer Care in Deloraine, compassionate bags for Women’s Shelter in Brandon and children’s pillow cases for Brandon Hospital.
When we receive thank you’s from projects, we know what we do is so worthwhile. Thanks to all the ladies who are so dedicated to come each week but our group would be happy if anyone would like to join or just drop in to see what we do. We also welcome new ideas or needs for the area.
If you want to help in other ways, Creating From The Heart is a registered charity and always grateful for donations of material or funds to purchase sewing notions and cover costs.
