Melita Victoria United Church

September 4, 2015

One lively hymn we like to sing is "Let Us Build a House" which proclaims that "all are welcome, all are welcome, in this place".  We would like to welcome back parishioners who have had a bit of a break this summer while we did not have services.    If you are new to Town we invite you to worship with us and consider making Victoria United your church home.
Rev. Allan Gairns is away on a sabbatical from now until December 20.  Worship leaders will be taking their turn in the pulpit each Sunday to ensure God’s word of light and love will be shared by all.  It will be an exciting adventure for the Deloraine Melita Tilston Pastoral Charge for these next four months.
Make a plan to join us on Sunday, September 13, at Melita Victoria United, starting at 10:30 a.m.  Parishioners from Deloraine, Melita and Tilston will join together for Sunday worship.  Communion will be observed.  After the service we will enjoy a free meal of corn on the cob, hot dogs and delicious desserts.
The times for worship for our charge will change starting September 20.  Worship times will be 9:15 a.m. in Melita and 11:15 a.m. in Deloraine.  Tilston meets on the first Sunday of the month at 1:15 p.m.
On the second Sunday of each month, we will continue to have a short service at the Melita PCH at 2:00 p.m. and at the Melita Lodge at 2:40 p.m.  You are most welcome to join the residents.
Next on the agenda is our annual Fall Supper.  It will be held at the Melita Legion Hall on Sunday, September 27.  It is a great meal with ham and turkey and all the fixings plus a wondrous supply of fabulous desserts.  You will not want to miss out.  Be watching for the ads and posters for this event!
A time of reflection will be Sunday, October 4, for World Wide Communion.  This is when churches around the globe gather to encourage each other, to support the powerless and give to those in need.  God calls us to broaden our understanding of faith in community - near and far.
A hymn we also like is "We are Pilgrims on a journey, fellow travellers on the road, we are here to help each other, walk the mile and bear the load".   Our hand is stretched out - join us as we stay the course with Christ to guide us.
Be watching for our next report as we will have lots to tell you about activities for the fall and Christmas season.
If you have any questions or need to talk to a minister, please call the church office at 204-522-8136.  Please leave a message if no one is in the office.  Your call will be returned.
